NORFOLK - The Faith Regional Health Services orthopedic team is getting a technology upgrade thanks to the hospital's biggest fundraiser.
Officials with the Faith Regional Foundation presented a check for $175,000 to doctors and staff on Tuesday in Norfolk.
The money will help purchase the Multix Fusion Max digital X-ray system that will be installed in Faith Regional's new South Medical Office Building.
Foot and Ankle specialist Dr. Zackary Gangwer says the new device will take more pictures and move more patients through in a more efficient manner.
"Older x-ray machines, literally, they have films that you put in and expose kind of like old-school cameras,” Dr. Gangwer said. “These new, modern machines have the most up-to-date technology. From taking the picture, to being able to look at the picture, the turn-around time is gone, essentially."
The money comes from the Faith Regional Foundation's Masquerade Gala, which was held on April 13. This year's gala set records both in attendance and funds raised. Over 600 people attended the event.
