NORFOLK - The Class A boys state golf tournament is in the books, and it was a historic event for a number of different reasons.
Firstly, the tournament was forced into a unique format this year, as the threat of inclement weather caused Tuesday's planned first round to be cancelled. As a result, the NSAA determined that an 18-hole, single-round event would be held Wednesday to crown this year's champion.
In the end, Creighton Prep came away as the Class A State Champion, with a combined score of 313 among its five team members. It was the 12th state golf championship in program history, and the first since winning four straight between 2012 - 2015.
History continued to be made with regards to the Class A individual champion, as Norfolk senior Luke Kluver won the third state championship of his high school career with an 18-hole score of 74. Kluver became the fifth golfer to win three state championships in NSAA history, and the first to ever do so in Class A.
The runners-up in the team standings were Lincoln Southwest, who just narrowly missed out on the state championship after shooting a combined 315 in the 18-holes. The full list of individual medal winners can be found here: https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/1993951.
