A man shot himself to death and a woman suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head in a Lincoln home late Saturday, police said.

The names and relationship status of those involved have not been made public.
Lincoln police said in a statement that a woman called them to the home in the 2300 block of Southwest 18th Street at 10:53 p.m. Saturday to help a woman with a head injury.

The statement from police didn't indicate whether the woman calling was a third person or the wounded woman.
When officers entered the home, a 58-year-old man took his life with a single gunshot to the head. The injured woman, age 54, had a gunshot wound to the head, and she was taken to a Lincoln hospital in critical condition.

Police did not discharge their weapons.
