Sunday storm could deliver 4 to 7 inches and ice

VALLEY/OMAHA - A strong storm system is expected to move into the region Sunday and exit to the east on Monday. The latest indications suggest light icing is possible on Sunday followed by heavy snow Sunday night into Monday morning. The exact track of the heavy snow is still somewhat uncertain, but much of northeast Nebraska could be affected by moderate to heavy snow and blowing snow.
The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning for the following counties: Knox, Cedar, Thurston, Antelope, Pierce, Wayne, Boone, Madison, Stanton,
Cuming, Platte. The cities included are: Creighton, Bloomfield, Crofton, Wausa, Verdigre, Niobrara, Hartington, Laurel, Randolph, Coleridge, Pender, Macy, Walthill, Winnebago, Neligh, Elgin, Pierce, Plainview, Osmond, Wayne, Albion, St. Edward, Norfolk, Stanton, West Point, Wisner, and Columbus.
WHAT…Light freezing drizzle followed by heavy snow possible. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible.
WHERE…Portions of northeast Nebraska, mainly northwest of a line from Columbus to West Point and Macy.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Significant reductions in visibility are possible due to snow and blowing snow.
