Probation & Jail Time For Madison Woman Charged In Fatal Collision

COLUMBUS - A Madison woman will serve jail time and a sentence of probation for a fatal collision in Platte County.
19-year-old Daisy Gonzalez was sentenced before Judge R.W. Tiss in the Platte County Court on Tuesday afternoon. Gonzalez was found guilty of one count of motor vehicle homicide, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
Court records say that on August 2nd, 2018, a minivan driven by Gonzalez collided with a motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Joshua Gasper of Columbus. The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 91 and 490th Street, and Gasper later died of his injuries.
Gonzalez was sentenced to 12 months of probation, terms of which include refraining from any unlawful conduct, taking a driver improvement course, and writing a letter of apology to Gasper's parents. Gonzalez will also have her license revoked for six months by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
In addition to the probation, Gonzalez will spend five days in jail beginning August 2nd, and will serve 15 days in jail beginning February 1st, 2020 if she does not comply with the terms of her probation.
