LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The portion of Salt Creek Levee Trail that was shut down due to the railroad bridge collapse in west Lincoln last week reopened.

Lincoln Parks and Recreation said the paved portion of the trail that travels under the two railroad bridges west and southwest of the Breslow Hockey Center reopened Thursday.

Trail users should exercise caution in the area as crews complete the final stages of site cleanup.

This announcement comes after a Union Pacific representative said the bridge had been repaired, inspected and reopened to train traffic on Tuesday.

Union Pacific crews had been working around the clock to rebuild the railroad bridge that caught fire and collapsed on Feb. 23.
