SIDNEY – The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce Monday recognized the Motel 6 changing ownership.

It is now part of the Super 8 by Wyndham organization.

The ribbon cutting also welcomed owner Basu Patil to Sidney.

“We had this motel since October 2025. I was looking for a clean motel which is near to Denver. So, my family stays in Denver, and my daughters study CU Boulder,” Patil said.

He said he was looking for a hotel near Denver when he visited Sidney.

“So, I’m looking for some hotel, which is drivable, maybe within 2 ½ hours, and Sidney is a good place and I’m looking for I-80,” he said about his purchasing the motel.

Patil said before hotels, his focus was IT.

His wife and daughters live in Colorado.
