Kennesaw Man Killed in Train Collision Near Red Cloud

One person has died as a collision caused a train to derail in Webster County

RED CLOUD, Neb. - According to the Webster County Attorney's Office, a hay grinder collided with an unloaded freight train at Amboy, about four miles east of Red Cloud at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

The driver, 24-year-old Andrew Katzberg of Kenesaw, died at the scene.

The incident caused Highway 136 between Red Cloud and Guide Rock to close down as first responders worked to clear the scene. The highway has since been reopened.

The Webster County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation with the Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Transportation providing support.
