Hastings resident David William Schmidt, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

 

Private family memorial services will be at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial with military honors will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. A book signing will be 4-6 p.m. with the family present Friday, November 28, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

 

David was born November 10, 1954, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE to John R. and Shirley J. (Littleton) Schmidt. He attended school in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1973. After graduation David enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1973 and served until his honorable discharge in July 1993.

 

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Schmidt.
