Former Hastings resident Fern Marie Jacobsen, 89, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center West, Lincoln, NE.

 

Family Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 21, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with Rev. Benjamin Hanne officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family and will be designated at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

 

Fern was born April 20, 1936, in Palmer, NE to Albert Gus and Minnie Mae (Garrett) Blauhorn. She married Alton L. “Jake” Jacobsen on October 21, 1956; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2002. Fern held several sales and clerical positions prior to retirement. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. Fern enjoyed music, singing in the church choir, and playing cards.

 

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton L. “Jake” Jacobsen; two sisters; and granddaughter, Samantha Spady.
