GRAND ISLAND, Ne. -- The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Grand Island.

There were no injuries in the shooting.

At about 6:40 a.m., investigators with the NSP Technical Crimes Unit were serving a search warrant at a residence at 921 East Oklahoma Ave. in Grand Island. The search warrant was in relation to a child pornography investigation.

Preliminary information shows that as investigators attempted to perform the search warrant, the resident, Justin Jelinek, fired a gun from inside the home.

A trooper returned fire. Nobody was struck by gunfire. Jelinek then barricaded himself inside the home. The NSP SWAT Team was activated, and investigators gave repeated commands for Jelinek to exit the home.

After approximately ten minutes, Jelinek voluntarily exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident. Jelinek, 43, has been lodged in Hall County Jail. Charges are pending.

The investigation remains ongoing.
