SIDNEY — North Platte swept both the boys and girls team titles Wednesday at the Sidney Cross Country Invite, held at Hillside Golf Course.

In the boys varsity race, Gering senior Axton Stone claimed the individual championship with a time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds. North Platte dominated the team standings, placing four runners in the top six and finishing with 15 points. The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Nathaniel Vieyra, who finished second in 17:05, followed by teammates Jack Knapp in third at 17:17, Bryan Titus in fourth at 17:35 and Caleb Yanez in sixth at 17:59.

Alliance senior Trevor Zurn led the Bulldogs with a fifth-place finish in 17:46, helping his team take second overall with 38 points. Gering finished third with 47, while Scottsbluff and Falcon rounded out the top five. Sidney placed sixth in the team standings with 102 points.

In the girls varsity division, North Platte runners swept the top five individual spots to earn a dominant victory with 10 team points. Senior Kori McClain won the 5,000-meter race in 19:24, followed by freshman Katie Teets in 21:47 and senior Kenedi Creasman in 22:19. The Bulldogs also had Mary Nielsen and Kierra Brunkhardt round out the top five.

Sidney senior Kyah Hicks finished tenth in 24:11 to lead the Lady Raiders, who placed second as a team with 47 points. Gering took third with 48, followed by Falcon and Chadron.
