County Court Judge Arthur S. Wetzel is retiring from the bench after 14 years in service.

Wetzel serves the ninth district in Nebraska, covering Hall and Buffalo counties.

Since being appointed in 2011, Wetzel served as the Presiding Judge twice, in 2014 and 2021.

His retirement will be effective January 2.

"The first step in replacing Judge Wetzel will be for the Judicial Resources Commission to call a meeting to determine whether, based on judicial workload statistics, his retirement creates a judicial vacancy on the county court for the 9th Judicial District," the State of Nebraska Judicial Branch said in a news release.
