LEXINGTON, NEB.— Lexington residents will have to use caution until next summer as almost 3 miles of road construction is starting this month.

Nebraska Department of Transportation says around 2 miles of Highway 30 in Lexington will be repaired. As well as less than 1 mile of Highway 283 including North Grant Street, east 5th Street, and north Jefferson Street.

The work is expected to start on September 22, weather permitting and all work is expected to be complete in June 2026.

Traffic will be maintained with lane closures and flags.

“Work includes concrete pavement repair in the fall of 2025 to be followed with an asphalt overlay in the spring of 2026,” according to a news release.

The work on Highway 30 is from mile marker 236.74 to 238.56, and Highway 283 mile marker 57.70 to 58.56
