Neligh, Neb. — Last night's storms brought heavy rain to Northeast Nebraska, especially affecting the Quad County baseball tournaments in Neligh. Over three inches of rain led to the postponement of the first round, leaving fans uncertain about the continuation of the games.

However, a Facebook message prompted a strong community response. "We've had people that are retired, people that have umpired here before," said Brett Arehart, a member of the Neligh Baseball Field Board. "People who have played baseball in the past came down with rakes and shovels."

The city of Neligh also played a crucial role, providing equipment to help vacuum the water. The combined effort mixed and stirred the ground, allowing the sun to dry the field in time for the games. The Quad County tournament is set to continue until Sunday, July 13. Tickets are priced at $4 for adults and $2 for kids in kindergarten through 12th grade.
