NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Police Department is investigating after a man was killed while working on a cement truck over the weekend.

Officers were called to Paulsen Inc. Ready Mix on Newberry Road near I-80 on Saturday at 1:20 p.m. for a deceased man found inside the drum of a cement mixer.

Arriving officers identified the man as Brian Janssen, 52. Preliminary findings indicate that Janssen was performing maintenance work on the cement truck when a work-related accident occurred.

The police department’s Criminal Investigation Division conducted a thorough investigation and concluded that Janssen’s death was accidental and directly related to the maintenance activity being performed at the time.

In Lincoln County District Court, Janssen was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. He pled not guilty two the charges in April and had a court hearing on July 14.

The case was dismissed without prejudice on Monday due to his death.
