KEARNEY, Neb. - Students, faculty, staff and community members alike are all getting the opportunity to meet the priority chancellor candidate for a University in Central Nebraska.

Dr. Neal Schnoor is visiting the University of Nebraska at Kearney this week in an effort to meet members of the school and community to get a better idea of what the university's needs are.

The prospective chancellor held five open forums on Wednesday to introduce himself and answer questions from different groups.

Schnoor met with UNK students, staff, administration and faculty throughout the day before moving on to the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce.

During the session with UNK students, Schnoor was primarily asked about the budget and whether or not certain programs will have their funding cut.

Schnoor didn't shy away from saying that it's a difficult time economically for many universities, and keeping UNK's finances in good order is a priority.

University of Nebraska President Dr. Jeff Gold was in attendance to introduce Schnoor.

Schnoor's priority candidacy runs for 30 days, and if approved by the board of regents, he will begin his new position in early July.
