HASTINGS, Neb. - A new head coach in Central Nebraska has high expectations this coming season for his new team.

Victor Rojas, the new head coach of the Hastings College baseball program recently joined the Doug and Daddy show to explain more about his decision.

Rojas is most known for his voice in Major League Baseball broadcasts, but more recently he was an assistant coach at Ottawa University in Arizona where he discovered that coaching was more rewarding that he could have ever imagined.

The move to Hastings came quickly for Rojas, who says he's ready to lead the Broncos with an old-fashioned, win-now mentality.

"I want to shock the world. This isn't a rebuild for me. I'm not looking to bring in 25 freshmen and hope for the best in three years and we turn things around. I want to win now. That's my mentality, that's gonna be the mentality of guys that are in the program. If they don't buy in that's fine, there's plenty of other schools for them to go to," said Rojas.

Rojas grew up in the game as the son of former Kansas City Royals All-Star Cookie Rojas, and emphasized the importance of building a strong culture.

He said his first priorities will include assessing the current roster, ramping up recruiting and laying the foundation for a competitive team by the start of fall.
