Hastings resident Lynette L. Beck, 78, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at her home. Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Lynette was born July 8, 1946, in McCook, NE to Rue and Vera (Luhn) Troester. She graduated from McCook High School and earned her RN degree from Lincoln General Hospital. She spent her professional life primarily as a surgical nurse at McCook Community Hospital and Mary Lanning Hospital, in Hastings, until her retirement. She married Robert Broomfield on June 3, 1967. To that union, three children were born: Kelly, Rob and Carrie. Lynette married William “Bill” Beck on May 16, 2016. Lynette was active in the Hastings Quilt Guild, PEO Chapter GZ, and at Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a member, and where she enjoyed her Wednesday bible study, for many years. Lynette never met a stranger and enjoyed following her grandchildren’s many activities, spending time with friends, puzzles, crafts and reading. Lynette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Troester; sister-in-law, Rae Troester; and husband, William Beck. She is survived by her three children, Kelly Broomfield, Lincoln, Rob (Jackie) Broomfield, Overland Park, and Carrie (Ryan) Sullivan, Hastings; five grandchildren, Megan, Nick & Max Broomfield and Payton & Jameson Sullivan; sister-in-law, Elda Powley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A book signing will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church.
