GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Of the 300 Chief Training Officers designated across the globe, one of them works in central Nebraska.

Grand Island Fire Department Division Chief Matt Caward was recently awarded the professional designation.

Exceeding seven measured components, Caward will have this distinction for three years and if he hopes to have it again, he must show continued growth and craft a future development plan professionally among other requirements.

The Commission on Professional Credentialing met on April 4 to confer the designation.
