Hastings resident Jerry J. Post, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Grand Island Good Samaritan Society, Grand Island, NE.

 

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with the family present Thursday, April 10, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Mr. Post was a lifelong resident of Hastings, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School. In 1967, he joined the U.S. Air Force and after basic training he was assigned to a NATO base in the Netherlands, namely Soesterberg A.F.B. While there he learned to speak the Dutch language. He married Albarta Post, and Angelique Post was born out of this union. The couple left the Netherlands in 1973 and returned to Hastings. The couple had a son, Brian W. Post, and a few years later that marriage was dissolved. Mr. Post remarried Pat Godding; Pat passed away in 2006.

 

Mr. Post married Kathi S. Hughes-Post in 2008 and they lived at 712 Valley Chase at the time of his death. Mr. Post was a past member of the Knights of Pythias, Hastings V.F.W., and served many years as chairperson and member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Mr. Post served five years in the U.S. Air Force and 30+ years on the Hastings Police Department; retiring on November 11, 2003. After retiring from the Police Department, he worked for NAPA in Hastings for 15 years delivering auto parts.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Post.
