BEATRICE – Norris Public Power District has reduced the number of customers without power to 6,742, as of early Friday, across the district’s six-county service area…..most of them in Saline, Seward and Lancaster Counties.  That cuts the outage figure from about 40-percent of district customers down to about 24-percent.

It’s being described as the most extensive storm damage in the past 30-years, by Norris Public Power’s Manager of Operations and Safety, Trevor Wehrer.

Five other organizations are assisting Norris Public Power with restoration efforts.  Several power poles were broken and lines were downed in the mid-week storm, which created blizzard conditions and winds of 50-to-70 miles-per-hour.

Several Norris customers were expected to be without electricity for several days while the repairs continue.

Nebraska Public Power District officials say as of late Thursday night, the district had reduced its number of customers without electricity to just over 300. At the height of the storm, about 11,000 NPPD customers had lost power.
