46 fire departments aid Custer County in firefighting efforts

The Broken Bow Area Rotary Club announced Wednesday morning that 46 fire departments have mobilized to support local crews in their efforts to combat the flames surrounding Custer County.

BROKEN BOW, NEB. - Custer County is receiving major assistance from across Nebraska in its ongoing battle against fires threatening the area.

The Broken Bow Area Rotary Club announced Wednesday morning that 46 fire departments have mobilized to support local crews in their efforts to combat the flames surrounding Custer County.

Broken Bow Public Information Officer Mason Holmes reports that as of Wednesday morning the Lillian Fire and the E Table Road Fire are under control.

He added that active fires continue to burn in the canyons while firefighting teams actively monitor the situation and conduct suppression efforts.

Strong to moderate winds are expected in the area through Friday, and residents may notice ongoing smoke in the area while operations persist.

Albion, Newman Grove, Comstock, Fullerton, Monroe, Ansley, Genoa, St. Edward, Stuart, Chambers, Holdrege, Oconto, Eddyville, Gibbon, Amherst, Callaway, Atkinson, Litchfield, Broken Bow, Sargent, Miller, Ravenna, Kearney, Elm Creek, Pleasanton, Fairbury, Wymore, Barneston, Odell, Diller, Beatrice, O'Neill, Bertrand, Anselmo, Sutton, Ewing, Merna, Ord, Scotia, North Loup, Loup City, Elba, Bartlett, Arapahoe, Beaver City, and Oxford.
