Custer County man dies in UTV accident while moving cattle to safety

A Custer County man has died after an accident suffered while helping neighbors.

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — A Custer County man has died after an accident suffered while helping neighbors.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Thursday on private property near the Adams Land and Cattle east lot in the Broken Bow area. An ambulance transported 40-year-old Chase Christen to a local hospital where he died.

According to a news release, Christen was on site assisting neighbors in moving cattle to safety ahead of a large range fire. He was driving a UTV when it rolled down an embankment and ejected him.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident.
