Roger Jasnoch retiring after 38 years with the Kearney Visitors Bureau

A community leader in Kearney is stepping down from his post after decades of service.

KEARNEY, Neb. — A community leader in Kearney is stepping down from his post after decades of service.

Kearney Visitors Bureau Director Roger Jasnoch announced his retirement on Tuesday. Roger worked at the visitors bureau for 38 years. His last day will be June 27.

“(I look) forward to continuing my involvement in the community as an active volunteer through supporting local events and initiatives that contribute to Kearney’s vibrancy and success,” Jasnoch said in a statement.

Jasnoch has a long list of achievements, including earning the Henry Fonda Award, which is the state’s highest tourism honor. He was involved in the inception of Kearney staples like The Archway, Viaero Center, Nebraska Senior Games, American Automobile Experience and the Kearney Area Community Foundation.

Most recently, he helped guide the visitors bureau, Chamber of Commerce and economic development office to their new building and welcome center, which will open in February.

“Roger’s impact on the Kearney area will be felt for generations, and we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement,” board chairman Paul Younes said.

According to a news release, the board will develop a plan to fill the director position over the next sever months.
