KEARNEY, Neb. -- A familiar face is returning to TV in Nebraska. 

Dave Griek is the new evening anchor at News Channel Nebraska. Griek has spent the last 15 years delivering news and sports to viewers across central and western Nebraska.  

"I am honored to continue my career as evening anchor with News Channel Nebraska,” Griek said. “This state is full of wonderful people, and I sincerely thank everyone who has allowed me into their homes, and given me their trust over the last 15 years." 

Griek started his Nebraska television career as the Sports Director at NTV. After 12 years of chasing sports stories and highlights, he switched to the news anchor desk. 

Now, Griek will broadcast to the entire state through News Channel Nebraska, a network of statewide channels that reach 500,000 homes. His evening newscasts will follow the morning newscasts led by veteran anchor Eric McKay, completing a trusted team of anchors.

Griek is a Colorado native who lives in Kearney with his wife, Machaela, and two children. 

Outside of broadcasting, Griek works as a football and basketball official. In 2014, he co-founded the Central Nebraska LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors). His group of trained clinicians and survivors respond to families who lose a loved one to suicide. 

"Nebraska is now my home. It's my wife's home. Most importantly, this is where my kids will grow up,” Griek said. “Keeping people informed, holding the powerful accountable, and staying on top of the news matters now more than ever." 

Griek will make his NCN debut next week. He will anchor newscasts out of a studio at the NCN office in Kearney.
