Kearney man sentenced for attempted murder in connection to April stabbing
A Kearney man convicted of trying to kill another man will spend decades in prison.
KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man convicted of trying to kill another man will spend decades in prison.
Buffalo County District Court Judge John Marsh sentenced 23-year-old Chance Sanders to 30-50 years in prison during a hearing on Friday.
Sanders previously pleaded guilty to attempted murder and attempting a weapons violation. The charges date back to late March when police say Sanders stabbed a 47-year-old man multiple times in his upper torso. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. Court documents and police news releases don’t mention of a motive, but do say that a woman was present at the scene. Investigators say Sanders damaged her vehicle but didn’t hurt her.
Sanders received credit for 238 days already served.
