UNK football game vs. UCO moved to noon kickoff due to threat of storms

The Nebraska-Kearney football game against Central Oklahoma will now start at noon on Saturday because of the threat of thunderstorms.

KEARNEY, Neb. — The Nebraska-Kearney football game against Central Oklahoma will now start at noon on Saturday because of the threat of thunderstorms. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

UNK made the announcement late Thursday morning on social media. As of midday Thursday, the National Weather Service forecast lists an 80% chance of rain on Saturday night with the possibility of a thunderstorm.

News Channel Nebraska, which televises all UNK football home games, will still be televising the game. Pregame coverage will start at 11:45. In Central Nebraska, fans can watch NCN on DISH channel 30, Spectrum channel 99 and Allo channel 181.

The university has not yet announced if it will reimburse people for pre-purchased tickets.

The contest is one of the premier matchups in the MIAA this week. UNK is 2-0 with wins at Chadron St. and at home over perennial power Northwest Missouri St. Central Oklahoma is 2-0 and coming off of a 57-40 win over #2 Central Missouri. Both teams are receiving votes in the AFCA top 25 poll.
