HASTINGS, Neb. – Hastings College announced Tuesday that Steve Maddock has been named as the Bronco Baseball Head Coach.
"We are very excited to have Steve join the Hastings Athletics family. Steve has proven himself to be a great coach and developer of talent throughout his career," Hastings College Athletic Director Chris Clements said. "He is a great fit for this team and we are looking forward to him getting to Hastings to build this program for years to come."
Maddock was most recently the Trinity High School head coach for three seasons.
He was also the manager of Fort Smith Marshals this past summer, a newly-launched Mid American League summer collegiate team in Fort Smith, AR. He was a scout and recruiter for the team, in addition to his coaching duties.
"I'm very excited to come to Hastings College not only for the baseball program but the beautiful campus and atmosphere. I had a chance to tour the college and the town and I am very excited to be a part of both. I look forward to building it into a successful program," Maddock said.
Maddock brings 20 years of professional baseball experience, including 13 as a coach and seven as a player.
In collegiate experience, he was the pitching coach and recruiter during his two seasons at Cedar Valley College, and coached the Arlington Aces of the Great Southwest Collegiate League from 2018-2020.
Before his collegiate stops, Maddock was the head coach at Bishop Dunne High School in Texas for four years and spent two years as the director of baseball operations and pitching coach for the Fort Worth Cats Professional Baseball team.
He inherits a Hastings team that finished with a 14-35 overall record and 5-22 conference record this past season.
