KEARNEY, Neb. — The Driver Licensing Office is Kearney will soon be moving locations.

Buffalo County announced Friday that the office will open at 321 Central Ave. on August 29. The new building is on the southwest corner of Central Ave. and 4th St., which is about 10 blocks south of the courthouse.

A news release says the office in the courthouse is closing because the space is needed for other county services. The move will also free up parking space at the courthouse.

All driver licensing services will take place at the new location but all payments will still be collected at the Buffalo County Treasurer’s Office.

The Driver Licensing Office will be closed on August 16 and will re-open on August 19 at the current location. Driver license services will NOT be available at either location from August 26-28 to allow for operational equipment to be transferred. If circumstances arise during this transition that cannot be met by the online services or expanded surrounding county hours, please contact the Driver Licensing Services division directly at (402) 471-3861. Dozens of online services are also available at www.dmv.nebraska.gov. Most customers can renew their driver’s license and State ID cards online, as well as update their address or order a replacement license.
