GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — People in Grand Island now have another option to consider when choosing an internet provider.

ALLO Fiber announced Thursday that it completed its construction of a fiber-optic network in Grand Island. The Nebraska-based company started construction on the network in November, 2021.

“We appreciate the patience of every Grand Island resident and business while we constructed our fiber infrastructure,” regional general manager Dave Miller said in a statement. “The real fun begins as the community enjoys reliable, high-speed internet with exceptional local support and service.”

A news release says the network supports 10 gig speeds.

“The city's growing economy will benefit from more choices for high-quality, reliable broadband, video, and voice services. The Chamber appreciates ALLO's significant investment in Grand Island,” Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce president Jamie Karl said.

ALLO operated in the city before its construction was 100% complete. It recently announced the Community Connect Program, which gives 15 local nonprofits free 1 GIG internet for three years.
