LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraskans will soon have the chance to interact with the priority candidate for president of the University of Nebraska.

University officials have organized nine forums with Dr. Jeffrey Gold. The forums will be spread across all four NU campuses and will happen on Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

The Nebraska Board of Regents picked Gold as the priority candidate on March 20. State law mandates a 30-day public vetting period. The board could vote to make him the permanent candidate on April 19.

Gold has served as chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center for 10 years. He is also executive vice president and provost for the NU system. He spent four years as chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Gold is likely to fill the vacancy created when former president Ted Carter left for Ohio State. Carter’s tenure ended at the end of 2023.

University community members and the public are encouraged to submit feedback on Gold’s candidacy anytime during the vetting period by visiting nebraska.edu/president-search/feedback.
