HASTINGS, Neb. -- A vacant home in Hastings was damaged in an early morning fire on Monday.

A press release stated that units from Hastings Fire and Rescue were sent to a home in the 200 block of E Second St. around 1:55 a.m. on Monday for a structure fire.

Officials said heavy smoke could be seen coming from the second floor of a two-story house. The home was reportedly vacant and undergoing renovations.

According to authorities, it took several hours to get the fire under control due to the age of the structure. Over 25 firefighters were at the scene from four different agencies and no victims were found there.

The fire was reportedly caused by an electrical malfunction and started in the basement, causing extensive damage to the building.
