ELM CREEK, Neb. — Authorities are providing more information about a crash that claimed a life in Central Nebraska.

It happened around 2:15 Friday afternoon on Highway 30 about two miles east of Elm Creek, which is near Kearney. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says a westbound car driven by 38-year-old Nuur Hasan Barre of Lexington crossed the center line to avoid a stopped vehicle. The car hit a pickup head on and both vehicles ended up in the south ditch.

Barre died at the scene. The pickup driver was treated at the scene and his passenger was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled.
