High School coaching legend Jeff Tomlin to join Hastings College Football Staff

A Nebraska coaching great with 37 years of coaching experience is joining the Bronco Football coaching staff for the 2024 season.

HASTINGS, Neb. – A Nebraska coaching great with 37 years of coaching experience is joining the Bronco Football coaching staff for the 2024 season. 

On Thursday's episode of the 'Doug and Daddy' radio show on ESPN Tri-Cities, Hastings Football Head Coach Matt Franzen announced that Jeff Tomlin is joining his staff as the Defensive Line Coach for this upcoming season. 

Tomlin recently retired as the Head Coach at Grand Island Senior High, where he led the Islanders for 21 seasons. 

During his time coaching at Grand Island, he earned 18 playoff wins, won four district championships, six Heartland Athletic Conference championships, and guided the Islanders to a state runner-up finish in 2018.

Tomlin also coached at O’Neill and Alliance. In total, his career spans 37 years, during which he won multiple awards including the Nebraska Coaches Association Football Coach of the Year and Nebraska Football Coach of the Year. 

Hastings College went 5-6 in their 2023 season, and their defense allowed an average of 34 points per game.
