Madison County Jail inmate dies early Wednesday morning

Authorities are investigating an in custody death of a Madison County Jail inmate.

MADISON, Neb. -- Authorities are investigating an in custody death of a Madison County Jail inmate. 

The Madison County Sheriff's Office said that inmate, 62-year-old David Perrin, was found unconscious and unresponsive Wednesday morning around 3:20 a.m.

Jail staff said they started CPR and other life-saving measures immediately.

Madison Rescue took Perrin to a local hospital where life-saving measures continued to be performed. 

Perrin was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 4:18 a.m. on Jan. 31. 

In accordance with state law, Perrin's death is under investigation.
