Winter weather and wind chill advisories issued as Nebraska braces for another storm system

HASTINGS, Neb. — After recovering from the first significant winter storm of the year, Nebraskans are expected to be hit with another blast of winter weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory to last from 3:00 Thursday afternoon through noon on Friday for all of Central Nebraska. NWS forecasters say to expect 1-5 inches of snow to fall during the advisory window. They predict the snow will be accompanied by north wind gusts for 25-35 mph, which will likely cause blowing snow and poor visibility.
The NWS has also issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Thursday night through Friday morning. Forecasters say wind chill values are likely to depend to -15 degrees or colder by 9:00 p.m. The advisory will be upgraded to a Wind Chill Watch Friday night and is slated to last through Tuesday morning. Wind chill values could reach as low as -40 on Sunday and Monday before returning to near zero by noon on Tuesday.
Forecasters expect Eastern Nebraska to see higher snowfall amounts than the central part of the state. Lincoln is projected to get 4-8 inches and Omaha could see 5-9 inches.
