GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - A central Nebraska family will be inducted into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame this year.

According to a news release, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced that the Hornady Family will be inducted into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame.

Hornady Manufacturing Company was started by Steve Hornady's father in 1949. Steve assumed leadership of the company in 1981 and his son, Jason, joined the family business in 2006.

Both Jason and his father have served on several boards and are currently involved with the NRA, the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer’s Institute and National Shooting Sports Foundation. In 2019, Hornady Manufacturing was named Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year for the ninth time by the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers.

With this honor, they will be joining a group of more than 135 business leaders who hall of fame organizers say have made a significant impact on the free enterprise system, Nebraska’s economy, job opportunities and quality of life in their communities.

Candidates are nominated by people from the business community, business associations and academia.

The banquet will take place in Lincoln on Feb. 1. They both will be inducted along with Sid Dinsdale of Pinnacle Bank and Lance Fritz of Union Pacific.
