HASTINGS, Neb. — KHAS Radio is proud to announce that the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce has selected the station as its Business of the Year in the 25 employees or under category.

The honor comes following a busy year for the 83-year-old radio station. It relocated from the southeast edge of town to the ground level of the Burlington Center building in the middle of Hastings. The station also launched a new morning show, refreshed its traditional Partyline show, expanded its News Channel Nebraska video news coverage and debuted a new Christmas-music format for the holiday season.

"We are proud to receive this honor from the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce," Flood Communications CEO Andy Ruback said. "Our local team works with our statewide resources to create a station that serves the Adams County community. We plan to build upon our recent success and continue to invest in KHAS and the Hastings area."

Flood Communications acquired KHAS in Nov. 2021. The state’s largest media company has hired three new Hastings employees since August as part of its efforts to grow KHAS.

“On behalf of the employees at KHAS Radio, we are so honored to have been chosen for this award,” General Manager Sherry Foster said. “Hastings is such a wonderful place to live and work and every day we truly feel blessed to be able to serve our community! Today we say thank you and we love you, Hastings!"

The Chamber of Commerce will present the honor to KHAS at its annual banquet on January 31.

“The Hastings Chamber of Commerce is delighted to celebrate businesses that make an impact in Hastings and the surrounding area,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shannon Landauer said. “The KHAS Radio team delivers news, but is also a team of individuals that make an impact in our community with their volunteerism and leadership. We congratulate the KHAS Radio team on the acknowledgment of their efforts as winner of our Business of the Year Award!”

While the station is adding content offerings, it continues to feature the programming that made KHAS a Hastings favorite for generations. The radio station remains committed to covering high school sports, Hastings College athletics, local news and severe weather while serving as a Husker Radio Network affiliate.
