Islander Boutique offers professional attire to students to better equip them for workforce
GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- A high school in central Nebraska is equipping its’ students with professional clothing.
For the first time, a boutique was included as part of the Grand Island High School Scholarship Fair this week. The Grand Island Public Schools Foundation, Grand Island Public Schools GEAR UP and the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation organized it.
According to college advisor Mayra Ramallo, the idea was born because they see a need for professional attire among students.
“We wanted our students to have access to like professional clothing for whether it is an interview, or when they are getting prepared for that college readiness and the workforce world,” Ramallo said.
The Islander Boutique is offering professional clothing for men and women completely free. The clothing was donated by the community.
Ramallo said it would be great to find a space for the boutique for it to be available the whole year, but for now its future is uncertain.
The boutique will be at the Annex building for the next couple of days and students can come and take as much as they need.
