Hastings resident Robert George Sands, 77, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his home.

Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 17, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday, November 17, at Aurora Cemetery in Aurora. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in Robert’s name. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Robert was born April 9, 1946, in Grand Island, NE to Clarence and Mildred (Johnson) Sands. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1964 and attended Kearney State College. Robert married Susie Olson on November 30, 1974.

Robert enjoyed a life on the farm near Aurora, NE, and a 26-year career in engineering as the custom manufacturing manager for Dutton Lainson Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Archway Corvette Club of Kearney, and South Central Corvette Club of Grand Island.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
