GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Hall County Commissioners are exploring financing options for a courthouse expansion and renovation without having a building plan approved.

Discussions continued at Tuesday’s board meeting about the project.

Commissioners are currently exploring finance options regarding the courthouse renovation and addition to the historic building. The county could issue bonds without people having to vote, if they keep it within a certain amount.

They are looking into options between $30 and $40 million.

However, a building plan hasn’t been approved yet.

Davis Design met with judges last week. The architects said that the judges acknowledge there’s a need to compromise. The judges had wanted bigger courtrooms, but now they might get smaller.

No action was taken on the finance or building plan.
