BROKEN BOW, Neb. — A Central Nebraska nonprofit is opening another thrift store to support its homeless outreach services.

Crossroads Mission Avenue announced Wednesday that it will open a Mission Avenue Thrift store at 440 S. 8th Ave. in Broken Bow by the end of the year. The new store will be downtown in the former Bow Booterie shop. A news release says the store will offer a local option for buying low-cost clothing and household goods, as well as an opportunity to recycle unneeded items. All proceeds from the store directly support the charity’s efforts to provide meals and care for the homeless in the region.

Crossroads also sponsors a community voucher program, which will provide basic clothing and household necessities for Broken Bow families through partnerships with local agencies. The release says the organization wants to start offering food services in Custer County.

Crossroads Mission Avenue is headquartered in Hastings. It offers homeless shelters and thrift stores in Hastings, Grand Island and Kearney and operates thrift stores in Holdrege and Lexington.
