KEARNEY, Neb. — Authorities in Buffalo County are continuing to look for a man wanted on two counts of felony child abuse.

Law enforcement statements say a witness reported seeing 24-year-old Jacob Ellingson of Kearney run into a cornfield Monday night in the area of 145th Road and Riverdale Road, which is two miles north of Riverdale. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says deputies worked with Kearney Police and the Nebraska State Patrol to set up a perimeter and search for Ellingson. They used UAV drones, K-9 units, thermal imaging cameras and a helicopter but couldn’t find the fugitive.

Ellingson is wanted in connection to injuries that sent a one-year-old girl to a hospital on Friday. A news release says the girl was having trouble breathing and was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Omaha. She remains hospitalized.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information on Ellingson to contact their office ((308) 236-8555) or the Buffalo County Crimestoppers ((308) 237-3424).
