NSP investigating suspicious death near Burwell

A suspicious death near Burwell is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.

BURWELL, Neb. -- A suspicious death near Burwell is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.

Officials said the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office called for help from NSP on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. after they received a report of a dead person.

According to authorities, the dead body was found along Highway 91, east of Burwell. The body was reportedly identified as 33-year-old Amanda Summers, of Trumbull. 

NSP said they arrested 22-year-old Calvin Measner, of Burwell, on Thursday morning. He was lodged at the Garfield County Jail for obstructing a peace officer and tampering with evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.
