KEARNEY, Neb. — Authorities say a threat made to multiple schools in Kearney is not credible.

Kearney Police say officers took a report around 5:00 Tuesday about a potential threat to multiple Kearney Public Schools, the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and Zion Lutheran School. A news release says police immediately investigated the report, which included a possible active shooter, and determined there was no credible threat.

Kearney Police and UNK Police placed additional resources at schools Wednesday morning out of an abundance of caution.

"The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with authorities,” UNK spokesman Todd Gottula said in a statement. “The campus community is asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to UNK Police and the Kearney Police Department.”

The release says no learning has been disrupted and business is operating as usual.
