Latina Women in Business conference empowers Latina entrepreneurs in Nebraska
More than 50 Latina entrepreneurs are now more equipped to start a business.
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- More than 50 Latina entrepreneurs are now more equipped to start a business.
The Central for Rural Affairs and the Small Business Administration hosted their third annual Latina Women in Business Conference in Grand Island on Thursday.
Organizer Jessica Campos said the purpose is simple.
“Empower women," Campos said. "Entrepreneurs really develop and have them bring out the best in them. Really remember why they wanted to start a business in the first place and keep that in mind."
The conference featured different guest speakers that covered topics including mental health, taxes, hiring practices and more.
Community organizer Nina Lanuza spoke about women in leadership and said it’s important to break barriers.
“Barriers are social, are in our minds, are culturally," Lanuza said. "So, it’s to break the stigma and how to overcome those barriers to become a woman in leadership.”
The conference was in Spanish and Campos said there’s a reason why.
“We always think of, you know, what is the language that your heart speaks to you in, or what is your level of comprehension in the things that you’re wanting to do,” Campos said.
