KEARNEY, Neb. — Five teenagers could face charges in Central Nebraska after authorities say they crashed a stolen vehicle and fled the scene.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover crash around 6:30 Thursday night. The caller told police the teens in the car fled into the cornfields near 11th St. and Highway 10, which is just southeast of Kearney.

A news release says law enforcement used K-9 units and drones to search for the teens. They eventually found the teens, who were all from Kearney and had no serious injuries. The car they were driving had been reported stolen an hour before the accident.

Authorities are working with the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office regarding possible criminal charges.
