Former Yellow Jacket generating buzz as Husker QB
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Nebraska player generating the most buzz in Indianapolis is quarterback Jeff Sims. The Georgia Tech transfer has impressed his coaching staff and teammates, according to head coach Matt Rhule and linebacker Luke Reimer.
"One of the most physically gifted players I've seen," Reimer said. "He's just a built up dude with unreal arm talent."
Sims transferred to Nebraska this offseason after three seasons at Georgia Tech. The Florida native started 25 games for the Yellow Jackets before coming to Lincoln.
"When I first got to Nebraska, my biggest focus was to build relationships with my teammates and get to know the guys, and making sure that they know me and making sure they know where I come from so they can respect me as a leader," Sims said.
Rhule said he believes Sims has next-level potential.
"It's not really about who has the best arms," Rhule said. "It's about who has the best brain, the best mindset, the best feel for the game, who has the mental strength to overcome the physical beating that you take. I think Jeff has all those things. I think Jeff's an NFL player if he will just continue to develop."
