GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The owner of a Grand Island business accused of defrauding customers is back in central Nebraska, making her first appearance in Hall County Court on Wednesday.
According to a roster of Hall County inmates, 45-year-old Kelli Lepler is now in the Hall County Jail. She was arrested in Missouri earlier this month after a Nebraska warrant had been issued for her arrest.
She had been held without bond in Missouri until she was returned to Hall County Tuesday night. She is currently facing 43 counts of theft by deception while running Monument Advisors. Prosectors allege that Lepler deceived customers for her own financial gain.
Lepler made her first appearance in Hall County Court on Wednesday. Bond is currently set at 10 percent of $150,000.
Police had received 68 reports of people paying Monument Advisors and not receiving a headstone in return. Lepler wasn't charged in the other 25 cases because investigators found that she had made progress on the orders.
According to reports, Lepler had received a total of $258,404.38 from the 43 victims.
